Safety of Airport Staff and Passengers Ensured

The Centre is taking all steps to ensure the safety of the working staff, passengers etc at the airports in view of the agitation by some segments of the employees of the Airports Authority of India against Privatisation/Modernization of Delhi and Mumbai airports . In a letter written to the Chief Secretaries and DGPs of all the States, Union Home Secretary Shri V.K. Duggal has said that Director General, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been fully sensitized of the situation.

He also emphasized the need that systems and arrangements should be put in place to ensure that no disruption takes place at the airports in providing regular services. Calling for the fullest support to the Airport Authority of India from the State Governments, Shri Duggal also said that it must be simultaneously ensured that Law and Order is fully kept under control and peace is maintained through tactful handling of the situation.

Shri Duggal has further stated that the staff willing to perform their duties must be ensured all logistical support and security. The Centre is keeping a constant watch on the situation.
