Bail of Daya Nayak today

Mumbai High Court will today hear the bail plea filed by 'encounter specialist' Daya Nayak in the disproportionate assets case even as his associate Rajan Padte has already been granted bail.

Padte was charged for his alleged involvement in helping Nayak to gather assets, disproportionate to his known sources of income.

After Padte's bail was granted, Nayak also moved a plea to release him on bail.

Meanwhile, Justice V M Kanade, while granting bail to Padte, directed him to furnish a surety of Rs 10,000 and also attend office of the investigating officer as and when required by them.

Padte, who had been languishing in jail, had urged the court to grant him bail on parity basis, as the court had earlier released a co-accused in the case - P Manivelan, as police failed to file a chargesheet against him within the stipulated period of 90 days.
