Mumbai: Bollywood actor John Abraham, a mobike freak, collided with a cycle carrying two youth, hurting them in the process, as he tried to avoid a pedestrian crossing the road in suburban Khar here last night, police sources said today.
Interestingly, the police have claimed that the headlights of his motor cycle a Yamaha Hayabusa were not functioning. John has, in the recent past, endorsed Yamaha brand motorcycles. Abraham, first took the injured youth to a local hospital.
Later, realizing that his own injuries too needed medical attention he went to Leelavati Hospital. Though his condition is stable, he has been advised to get admitted and was to be discharged after 12 hours.
Though the two cyclists, not seriously injured, have no complaint, the Police propose to arrest him for negligent driving. This is a bailable offence and the court will immediately grant him bail but the publicity will deter the rash bike drivers who have become a nuisance.
In the past, after the prosecution of Salman Khan, the instances of drunken driving have come down.
