Mumbai: Though film star turned Congress MP Govinda has claimed that the threat calls he received at his Juhu residence were from within the city, he has not named the source. He has hinted that the threats were not from Dubai. Govinda has written a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi with a copy to chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. He has reportedly indicated in the letter that a rival within Bollywood was behind the calls.
"They have also threatened to bump off my wife and children in a road accident. Somebody is jealous of my returning to films. Please help me,” he has stated.
Deputy chief minister R R Patil said: "The CM forwarded the letter to me and I have given it to police commissioner A N Roy."
In a press release issued on Monday, Govinda said,"I am thankful to the media for taking up this issue, but till now I have not mentioned the names of the callers. I will name them and file a proper complaint only after talking to senior Congress leaders. But the people who are after me and my family members are based in Mumbai."
Incidentally, some of the people who have worked with him in the past consider him `paranoid` and do not take his claims seriously.
