Mumbai: The Juhu police team brought Deepak Mallik, accused of firing at and seriously injuring model Sanjana Shrivastva, to Mumbai from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Mallik was arrested by the Ghaziabad police for illegal possession of arms under the Arms Act.
Shrivastava is still recuperating at Juhu Arogya Nidhi hospital.
Mallik is said to have confessed to shooting Sanjana at Oshiwara Jogger's Park on March 11.
They fought when she asked him to return the Rs 40,000 that he owed her.
Police has two theories. They suspect a love triangle between Mallik, Shrivastva and a motor mechanic and are making inquiries. There is also money angle.
Mallik, a fitness trainer, had promised Shrivastava a seat in a reputed Delhi institute for pursuing MBA. Shrivastava gave him the money in good faith but Mallik neither got her the admission nor returned the money. Senior inspector Pradeep Shinde and his team made the arrest.
Mallik was produced before the Andheri metropolitan court which remanded him to police custody. His accomplices-aspiring actor Rachit Kapoor and a domestic Neeraj Singh-who were present at Joggers Park at the time of the incident, were arrested two weeks ago and are also in police custody.
