Despite his current status in the industry, Sunil today is totally disillusioned with the attitude of the people around. "It breaks my heart to see the functioning of the people around me. That is why I want to give up, quit, retire." He intends to give up acting and take up other aspects of filmmaking, with his own set-up. "I've done so much. I've slashed my price when I've seen my directors put in more than what they get out of it. And then the producers hike the price of the film and treat the film like a step-son. Although their profit is made, the lower profit margin doesn't qualify it as a hit." He hopes that as a producer, things can be a little more systematic that they are now. "I would like to involve my actors a little more in my projects, maybe in the form of a partnership, a percentage in the profits, so that they get totally involved in the film. Because it is entirely on their merit that I pin the price of the film." He firmly believes that if he has an Akshay, Shah Rukh and Sunny in his film, he can increase the film's selling price because these stars are popular. "Who knows, you might see a Sunil Shetty production starring Sunny, Shah Rukh and Akshay three years from now," he says optimistically.
