He shares the Kapoor surname with the famous first family of the Hindi film industry. He should have been hero material, but Sharad Kapoor made his film debut as a psycho-villain obsessed with Sushmita Sen in 'Dastak'. He was compared with Shah Rukh in 'Darr', and that was a compliment.
Though he easily overshadowed the hero Mukul Dev, 'Dastak' did not do anything much for either of them. However, like Mukul, Sharad too had played safe and signed nearly 30 films. 'Ankhon Mein Ho Tum' was a disaster.
He was signed to play Jackie Shroff's double, the same body but with a different face - something only he could do - in 'Vishwavidhata', inspired by 'Face Off' but this too did not help. `'Trishakti' was as badly received.
Mansoor Khan's 'Josh' and Anees Bazmi's 'Ganga Jamuna' seem promising. His other films include 'Aaj Ka Paigham', 'Bachpana', 'Jaan ki Baazi' and 'Jiyo Aur Jeene Do'. A handsome Punjabi ready to play the villain always has a future in the industry, specially if he can act.
