Famous actress Sana Azim (Kangana Raut) slashes her wrists In a hotel room In an attempt to kill herself. When this news reaches film maker Aaditya Garewal (Shiney Ahuja), he is devastated. Aditya has been searching for Sana all over the world. Sana who was intensely involved with Adltya, had mysteriously disappeared from his life without any explanation, three years ago, only to surface now In what could be the last moments of her life. As Aaditya walts outside the ICU In a death watch situation, praying to be reunited with her, he is hurled back Into old days, where Sana played lover and mentor to the struggling director called Aaditya.
As publicised the film is inspired by true life incidents between late actress Parveen Babi and Mahesh Bhatt. Well, Mahesh Bhatt has this habit of putting life stories into his films. Award winning ZAKHAM which was also inspired by his own story remains one of his best films, but it didn't succeed at the box office. That's the problem with autobiographical films.
WOH LAMHE though looks like inspired by Parveen Babi's life, still the makers have taken lot of liberties and worked the script accordingly to suit the film. Hence at times certain important characters don't look convincing.
The biggest example is that of actor Shaad's character who has been shown as hero and lover of Sana in the film. This character is supposed to be based on biggest actor star of Hindi cinema. But the makers have totally changed his character. So much so that it looks very cheap at times. The film Is enjoyable in first half. But in second half it becomes depressing. And even though there was lot of scope for intense and painful scenes of romance the film never touches that expected level except certain scenes. There was also scope for memorable music but barring couple of songs music also never touches the expected level. However powerpacked performances by Shlney Ahuja and Kangana Raut carries the show forward.
Production values are good.
Technically very good. Script loses grip at times. Dialogue are very good. Musically 'Kya Yeh Pyar Hai' is a very good song. Cinematography good. Performancewise Shiney Ahuja gives a very intense and convincing performance. Same is the case with Kangana Ranaut. There Is an amazing chemistry between these two. Shaad is natural. Purab Kohli is fair. Directorlally Mohit Suri shows his craft but at times he is handicapped by the nature of the film.
At the box office, one can't expect big things from It.
