Daya (Shiney Ahuja) is a dreaded gangster on the run. He is in love with a bar dancer Simran (Kangana Ranaut). They escape to a foreign land. Daya is mostly away from home. The lonely Simran meets Aakash, who plays guitar in a club.
Aakash falls in love with her, without knowing that she is already involved with Daya. Simran now has to choose between the two men in her life.

Vishesh Films is known to produce their own brand of cinema without the help of big names. Credit must be given to Anurag Basu, who has come a long way since 'Murder' .In 'Gangster', he has given a realistic and classy touch. There are a number of scenes that are innovative and leave a lasting impression. Foreign locales have been shot beautifully.
Songs have been imaginatively plcturlsed. And all-round performances are outstanding . However, the treatment is slow till
the interval, but picks up tempo in the latter part. Shiney's break-up with Kangana and the climax are exceptional. It
remains to be seen whether the audience accepts Shiney in the principal role of the gangster.

Production values are top class. Technically, very good. Script loses pace at times. Dialogue are clapworthy. Musically, all the songs are melodious. Background music adds to the overall effect. Cinematography is eye-pleasing. Performance wise, Emraan Hashmi Is good. Debutant Kangana Ranaut is excellent. Shiney Ahuja makes an impact. His overall personality and new look fit the role. Others lend good support. Directorially, this is Anurag Basu's best effort till date. At the
Box-Office, the film will find patronage in metro cities and multiplexes, but will need word-of-mouth publicity to sustain.
