Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is a divorcee with a 11 year old daughter residing in Brooklyn. Being unemployed he is searching for a job to take care of his family. After several failed attempts he succeeds in finding a job as a night security guard at the Museum of Natural History little knowing what lies in store for him ahead. On his first night ofthe job he receives a shock of his life when he finds the statues, paintings and other exhibits like animals and dinosaurs coming to life and creating a ruckus in the premises. Moreover he is at his wit's end when chased by the skeleton of a dinosaur, wild African elephants, lions and even a monkey.Howevertheordeal ends at daybreak when everything stands still and the exhibits are all back to their places.Though being in two minds to quit the Job or retain it he is back to the museum or the second night.
Directorially Shawn Levy has deftly tackled the uncan.ny subject comprising a large ensemble of human beings and animals, whose roles seem to have been sketched haphazardly. Anyway being a fun film, lapses in the screenplay could be forgiven.Performancewise Ben Stiller, in the central role ofthe night security guard, steals the show.Though his timing to perfect, sometimes he tends to go overboard.
However the main highlight of the film is well executed, especially the visual effects. The Hindi dubbing is well executed. B77eing a slick comedy, it succeeds in sustaining viewers interest.
