A touching sentimental story of society where, though servile youth are respected and loved by their families, the poor farmer who slogs to keep granaries full gets step-motherly treatment. A son of the soil Hemant whose brother Basant loves a girl from a neighbouring village sees through intentions of a village head's sister. He thwarts them and succeeds in marrying a girl he loves. Since bringing a measly income, be has to tolerate nagging. When he cannottake it any more, he flees to Bombay where the situation is even worse. Back home, seeing the fields neglected in Hemant's absence, his brother realises his true worth and beckons him back. The family lives happily thereafter.
Simple to grasp, the story is however predictable at times. But the narrative has enough ingredients for the ,turnstiles. The screenplay does not support the treatment, though.
Production values are ordinary.Technically, of standard.Cinematography is eye-pleasing.Musically, the songs are foottapping.Performancewise, Mahesh Raja is at his dramatic best. Neetu Singh looks
fetching. Madhu Mishra is okay. The rest are adequate.Direction is adept.
