This is the story from where the career of James Bond (Daniel Craig) started, and this is his very first assignment. La Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) is a banker to the world's terrorists. In order to stop him and bring him down to the terrorist network, Bond must beat Le Chiffre in a high stakes poker game at 'Casino Royale'. Bond is annoyed when a beautiful treasury officer Vesper Lynde (Eva Green) is assigned to deliver his stake for the game. But a mutual attraction develops betwen them. But then, there is a twist in the tale.

This is the Bond people are n bvnm ot used to he is not too suave and polished, and gets blood on his tuxedos. His knuckles gets bruisd when he fights and he is not unaffected as in his earlier avatars. This is an emotional Bond. He gets into physical fights with a rage and the look of fright on his face makes him a normal human Bond, and not a super-spy.

Production values are grand.Technically, the film is spectacular.Cinematography is breath-taking. Story and screenplay rely more on the knowledge of the book and therefore do notexplain many things even though they bring thrill even in a laidback poker game. Action is milid-blowing and realistic, especially the first major sequence which flies above the tall construction cranes. Performancewise, Daniel Craig might not be as good looking as his predecessors but has surely has a rough and manlylookto him, which is actually more suited for a man facing near death situation as part of his job. Eva Green is attractive and intelligent looking. Mads Mikkelsen looks merciless without a conscience.Directorially, this a more mature -sequence and has been given those added details which makes Bond feel real.

At the Box-Office, it will score in the multiplexes and metros.Cinematography by Ishwar Bidri is outstanding. Musically, a dull fare.Performancewise, Juhee Babbar delivers an elegant portrayal. Sanjay Kapoor is okay. Rituparna Sengupta is fair. Sudhanshu Pandey Is miscast.Aman Verma hams. Dlrectorlally, an average fare.
