A crook named Carlos (Jackie Shroff) is a bankrupt underworld don from Bangkok, anticipating the arrival of his sexy girl Friday, Sania (Celina Jaitley) with his precious bag of diamonds.
Inspector Namane (Suniel Shetty) is on her trail but gets tricked every time. In Mumbai, there's a forbidden romance brewing between a car mechanic Arjun (Shreyas Talpade) and Pandit Shastri's (Anupam Kher) daughter Shivani (Riya Sen). Arjun seeks the assistance of his cousin Kishen (Riteish Deshmukh), a colourful rogue with an uncanny knack for getting into trouble.
A Nepali gang headed by Chunky Pandey is after his blood. Kishen also has a penchant for donning different get-ups. During one such avatars, Kishen pretends to be Arjun's aunty Sania and finds a love struck admirer in Shastri. Meanwhile, he is also unknowingly carrying the bag of the missing diamonds. Another wannabe don (Rajpal Yadav) kidnaps one Sania, while another don kidnaps the other.
The correctly formed structure with enough misunderstandings and confusion is nevertheless too crowded to be properly understood. Comedy requires characters, not crowds, as they take the sympathy and the indentification away. Although the writer should be complimented in handling so many diverse characters and bringing them together into one satisfying climax, the film fails to connect with the characters. Some of the characters like Riteish, Rajpal Yadav, Anupam Kherand
even Suniel Shetty do make you laugh with their interpretation to topical subjects and the dialogue too are great. The jokes however are not consistenly funny. Along the way, the film also loses its emotional content and at the end of it all, one does not care who gets the diamonds.
Production values are good. Technically, above average. The script Is pacy. Dialogue are aimed at the masses which often go overboard. Musically, racy. The title song and 'Dil mein bajee guitar' stand out. Cinematography is above par. Choreography is excellent.Editing is crisp.
Performancewise, Riteish Deshmukh is outstanding. His mannerisms are fantastic. Shreyas Talpade is okay. Celina Jaitley is very good. Koena Mitra delivers the goods. Riya Sen is average. Rajpal Yadav and Chunky Pandey are reliably efficient. Anupam Kher shines. Suniel Shetty comes up with another lovable performance. Jackie Shroff is okay.
Directorially, Sangeeth Sivan does an excellent job. At the Box-Office, it will score more in the Metros and Multiplexes.
