Kunal Goswami was first seen by film audiences as a child star in his father, Manoj Kumar's production 'Kranti'. A film which had stalwarts like Dilip Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha and Manoj Kumar did not leave enough scope for the child star. Yet, Kunal was noticed. But before he had a chance to really grow up,being tall and handsome, he was grabbed by other producers. He failed to impress in 'Ghunghroo','Kalaakar' (1983) and several other films. So, he left the industry to try his luck in the catering business in Delhi.
But once an actor, always an actor and Kunal returned soon to begin his second innings. It began with 'Vishkanya'- but the result was same. Manoj Kumar relaunched him in another home production 'Jai Hind'. But it didn't work. The formula of patriotism blended with sex worked wonders in 'Purab Paschim' and 'Roti Kapda Makaan' but not anymore. Manoj's tiredness and indifference shows. Kunal, somehow, has failed to click.
