Feroz Khan today is considered `that baldy father of Fardeen Khan`, seemingly cracking dirty jokes or putting both his feet in his mouth like he recently did when a delegation went to Pakistan and got himself banned causing all around embarrassment. But he is still making films, though most have flopped. The last flop was Jaaneman. The new under production film is the remake of his old superhit Qurbani. This time the spelling has been changed to Kurbaani. Whether it is a concession to falling standards of pronunciation or for numerological reasons, only Feroz Khan knows. Feroz Khan started out with the stunt films of the Wadia brothers and was stuck in B-grade films like 'Reporter Raju' (1962) and 'Ek Sapera Ek Lutera' (1965) till he gave an impressive performance in 'Safar' (1970). It was a Rajesh Khanna film, when Rajesh was at the peak of his popularity but as the husband of the girl who Rajesh loved, Feroz delivered a sensitive performance and left an impact. He could have consolidated his position as an actor but the ambitious Khan had his own plans. He became a film maker.
'Apradh' (1972) was the beginning. It was followed by 'Dharmatma', first of the many Indianised versions of 'The Godfather'. He saw the big success with 'Qurbani'. 'Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi Mein Aaye' went on to become a national rhythm for some time, and Feroz Khan was made.He could not repeat the success in 'Dayavan' and 'Yalgaar'. His recent film 'Prem Aggan', he made to launch his son Fardeen Khan, too did not fare well at the box office .
