Fariyal

A lot of girls arrive in the industry to become heroines - and end up in brothels. Fariyal was lucky. She was an air hostess who found her way into industry when film maker-actor Kishor Sahu spotted her and tempted her with a lead role. She quit her secure job and decided to act in films. She felt it would be better than carrying trays and smiling for air passengers.

The film never materialized. But another maker, Ram Kamlani signed her to play the heroine opposite Shashi Kapoor in 'Biradari' (1966). Like most films starring Shashi, this too failed, but Fariyal, willing to boldly display her assets, found willing producers.
