Arshad Warsi

As Circuit, the side kick of Sanjay Dutt (Munnabhai), Arshad Warsi finally arrived! Now he also has a sequel playing the same character in Lage Raho Munnabhai but more important, Arshad can now pick and chose his roles and can ask for a starry fee. His recent films are Salaam Namaste, Vaah Life Ho To Aisi and Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya. His forthcoming films also include Anthony Kaun Hai, Kabul Express and Golmaal.

Arshad Warsi, like Chandrachur Singh, began with ABCL's 'Tere Mere Sapne'. It was a beginning with a bang but it was clouded by a flop called 'Betaabi'. Arshad, a talented lad, faced the same fate which everyone from Amitabh to Aamir Khan has faced. He was a hit as a tapori in his very first film and every second role offered to him was same. He refused to encash on the image, refused over 40 such roles, and signed films where he had something different to showcase his talent. Perhaps this was over-confidence, but the cocky youngster promised to deliver in the solo starrer 'Hero Hindustani', and the producers believed in him. It bombed. Warsi could not carry the film on his shoulders alone.

He failed to deliver in 'Mere Do Anmol Ratan' too, though it was a two hero film along with Mukul Dev, where glamourous model Namrata Shirodkar, (who had won the Miss Femina India crown earlier) provided the glamour angle. It didn?t work. 'Trishakti', had three shoulders to carry it. Along with Warsi were Milind Gunaji and Sharad Kapoor. But unfortunately for all of them, the film failed. But talent, presence and marketing ability has helped Arshad Warsi survive. He still has an interesting, carefully chosen line-up of films.

More interesting is the Rekha-Naseer film, 'Tum Se Achha Kaun Hai'. Prakash Mehra has let his son take over the production and has given the reins of direction to Harry Baweja. Perhaps Rekha likes the young Warsi. He also figures prominently in K.C. Bokadia's 'Chunaoti' where the lead pair is Sunny Deol and Rekha."

Arshad's character 'Circuit' has charmed the audiences in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' too as in the prequel to this movie 'Munnabhai MBBS'. However he has had differences with the producers and indications are that he may notbe signed for the third part of this trilogy.
