Amita

Ameeta first faced the camera at the age of 10, for 'Thokar' (1953), but was really noticed in 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha' (1957). Interestingly, Shammi Kapoor was the hero of both the films!

The Yahoo-guy never looked back after 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha', but Ameeta found herself stuck Film Songs in B-grade films ('Chhote Nawab', 'Ek Ladki Saat Ladke', 'Main Aur Mera Bhai', 'Goonj Uthi Shehnaai') and supporting roles ('Mere Mehboob')

A straight, non-manipulative actress, Ameeta hung around doing insignificant roles before bidding goodbye to films. Her daughter Sabia too tried making it in films, not too successfully.
