Hello all of you, Saif Ali Khan’s monkeys*!
Saif Ali Khan has referred to all of you as monkeys. The nondescript anchor holding a mike, waiting to catch the sound bytes, represented all of you…
Saif has snubbed you all …
And, for once, I agree with what he has said. TV channels have gone overboard `breaking news` with celebrity 'angles'. Are you aware that channels described Saif Ali Khan’s accident as berahmi se kuchal daala blah blah, but have not bothered about another major accident in Mumbai?
In this accident, a jeep belonging to the Mumbai police was borrowed by army commandos undergoing training for anti-hijacking, at a camp in Colaba in the city.
The driver, also an army commando, lost control of the jeep and ran over 10 persons at Borivali. It happened on Saturday, 17th Dec at 7:45 pm. One of the ten victims died on the spot, three are on the critical list at Bhagwati Hospital and rest too had serious injuries. The victims included kids and women.
What did the commandos do?
They fled from the scene.
They were later arrested and even hours after the incident, the driver proved to be under the influence of liquor in a breath-analyzer test.
The law will take its course but the point is:
Why so much focus on a small accident involving Saif Ali Khan and why a total lack of interest in a major story?
I don't not buy the often touted TRP rating defense, either. You could make this story more interesting than Saif’s story. But this would have require work, solid work.
You are looking for an easy way to raise your TRP ratings. At the cost of Saif Ali Khan or whoever is already famous.
* Saif Khan described the media representatives – most of them anchors for various TV channels eager for getting his sound bytes – after stepping out of the Andheri court, getting bail in the case of an accident. He had accidentally hit a boy while driving, but did the right thing by taking him to a hospital and then voluntarily reporting the accident at a police station. He was not drunk when he was driving. He also paid Rs 15,000 to the family for the medicines and hospital bills, but refused to be blackmailed when they asked for an unusually huge amount as compensation.
