The newest Kapoor in the town, to be launched in a BIG way, is Ranbir Kapoor. While it is difficult to gauge his talent at this stage, his visiting card reads: the son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Both are extremely talented actors.
 The name is borrowed from his grand father Raj Kapoor. Ra's full name was Ranbirraj Kapoor. The producer launching him is another Punjabi and another romantic Yash Chopra.
Rishi Kapoor might have done it but I guess he is not confident after the lackluster response to his otherwise good film `Aa Ab Laut Chalen`, and is not into film making any more. Randhir too is over the hill, busy in the oldest hobby of all the Kapoors, drowning himself in booze.

In any case, though Raj Kapoor launched son Rishi Kapoor twice (in Mera Naam Joker, where he got the national award as a child actor and Bobby) but Kapoors, as a rule do not launch their own. Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor had to climb the hard way. Shashi Kapoor even did C grade mythological films. Ditto for Randhir Kapoor who launched himself as a director and actor in Kal Aaj Aur Kal . Karisma got her first break in Qaidi and struggled her way up doing bawdier scenes (remember khatiya sarkailo?) in Govinda starrer. Kareena got a better debut because, by then Karisma had made a lot of moolah and, more important, a name for herself. But here too it wasn't the family – against the very idea of their daughters working in films – but outsiders who launched her. First was Rakesh Roshan who signed and then dropped her from Kaho Na…Pyar Hai, and the second was J P Dutta who launched her along with Abhishek Bachchan in Refugee .
To return to Ranbir, he was to make his debut in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. But a self respecting Kapoor couldn't tolerate the humiliations Bhansali heaped on him. He walked out in the waiting arm of Yash Chopra. The film, to be produced after Fanna , will be directed by Aditya Chopra. This may be a film worth watching. It is not clear who the leading lady is. Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam would have been ideal.
Boney Kapoor's public issue
No Entry has worked wonders for Boney Kapoor. In its super-successful aftermath, he is now on the threshold of launching a Public Issue in a mighty way, it is learnt. And he is also getting about 30 Crores worth of institutional funds for Sridevi Productions, coupled with a big contract from a popular channel. With this kind of financial resources, it would be little wonder if Boney comes up with blockbuster extravaganzas, which he is known for, in the near future. Congratulations and best wishes on the lavish plans.
Raj Sippy Comes Back
Remember Raj N. Sippy, who debuted with the well-mounted, technically brilliant caper INKAAR way back in the early eighties, followed by ANDAR BAAHAR? He followed them up with a series of blockbusters like SAUGANDH, SATYAMEV JAYATE and the singularly interesting action-comedy SATTE PE SATTA. Then, he went on a downslide, followed by a sabbatical. Now, he is back with a bang, introducing Mithun Chakraborty's son Nimoh in JIMMY, which is tipped to be a blockbuster romantic-thriller. Then, he has KHUJLI, a comic-romance starring Himanshu Malhotra, Karuna Pande and Rajpal Yadav, which is ready for release. And it is also learnt that very soon, he will launch a big family drama for a veteran character artiste who is a big name on the small screen!
Maneka Gunning for Soha Ali?
 While there are various speculations and explanations about the way Maneka Gandhi is gunning for the entire clan of Nawab of Pataudi, the story I have heard is a little too much to swallow. After prosecuting the bade nawab and his son Saif Ali Khan and making a scathing attack on Sharmila Tagore, she has got her activists demanding the skull of Soha!
Soha's fault, besides being the daughter of the nawab, is that the gun used for killing the black bucks (not in Salman Khan episode, but the episode involving the Nawab which got him arrested) is registered in the name of Soha. Demands are being made to arrest Soha.
I'd like to know in which other case, even when a human being has been murdered, have the police arrested the owner of the gun?
It can happen only when the owner has conspired in a plot to kill someone, and it is highly improbable to see a conspiracy between Soha and her father to kill the black bucks.
I am quite curious to know the why of the entire vendetta.
Maneka is known to fight dirty (remember how she published the dirty pictures of Jagjiv Ram's son Suresh Ram in a magazine called Surya, during 70s?) and the only one who has been able to hit her back quitely but effectively is Sonia Gandhi.
When two Biharis fight
The story making rounds these days is that Shatrughan Sinha, and Shekhar Suman, once a friend don't see eye to eye and in fact, prefer not to come face to face. Common friends find the entire stuation a little embrassing when they throw a party as the dilemma usually is who to invite and who to avoid. Well, the story may be making rounds now but I have been close to both and have known about the tension between the two for a long time. Shekhar would mimic Shatru in his absence, and Shatru would pass sarcastic comments on Shekhar, also in absence. What would happen when the two were together is not difficult to visualise, specially because Shekhar Suman went on becoming more and more successful and Shatru moved over to politics.
