 The gorgeous Lisa Ray, who created a sensation with whatever she did whether doing a music album Nusrat Ali Khan’s Afreen Afreen or her debut in Mahesh Bhatt's film Kasoor, was eccentric enough to reject the silver platter and moves to London. There were whispers that she got tired of the restless hands of the people in the movie industry and didn’t want to compromise any more.
She, however, got herself an important role in Deepa Mehta's Water, which is carrying rave reviews overseas.
Now, the word is that she is returning to Mumbai. Well, well.
John Abraham’s Next
With 'Viruddh' 'Garam Masala' and `Zinda` John Abraham has had a great year in 2005.
The new year promises much more as it opens with another film from Ramesh Sippy, 'Taxi No. 9211'. Sippy has repeated Nana Patekar, who starred in Bluffmaster too.
Sameera Reddy constitutes the glamour quotient of the film. John is very upbeat about 'Taxi No. 9211' and is planning to go all out to promote it.
Saif turning producer
 Saif Khan it is learnt is turning a producer. Going the same path as his contemporaries, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan, it is learnt that Saif Ali Khan is in the process of producing a film that will have him in an author backed role. It will be directed by 'Parineeta' director, Pradeep Sarkar. Vidya Balan may also star in it. Parineeta brought a lot of accolades to Saif Khan and was an average success. 'Dil Chahta hai', 'Hum Tum', 'Kal Ho Na Ho' & 'Parineeta' have given Saif a place amongst the more saleable heroes of Bollywood. Industry insiders say a solo Saif movie has ready buyers, something that was unthinkable barely three years ago and difficult before 'Hum Tum'.
Award fuctions and Apologies
Rani Mukherjee was miffed with Screen weekly for some comments made on her during the screen awards last week.
 A mimicry artist dressed as a eunuch said Rani mukherji has always mimicked his voice, thereby implying that Rani has a voice like a eunuch. Rani, who's a senior and versatile actor was understandably offended. After the show it is learnt that frantic efforts were extend apologies to her which Rani, eventually accepted.
At another award function, Dilip Kumar was to receive an award at the hands of actor- MP Govinda. Govinda, returning from an outdoor was stuck in traffic and reached the venue too late. By the time he reached Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh had been requested to give away the award and it was all over. Govinda is believed to have rushed to Dilip Kumar's bungalow at pali hill to apologise. Kumar after some show of disapproval gave in to Govinda saying 'Tumhari neeyat sahi lagtee hai, jaao tumhe maaf kiya'.
On another note, Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh didn't appear very pleased at being asked to replace Govinda considering his own stature is bigger.
Salman Khan's bald tales
Salman has had to shave his head because of a hair weaving gone wrong. Initially the Salman camp tried to play this down and Salman's hair dresser and others shaved their own heads to camouflage it. Saif Khan fell for it looks like, because he cropped his hair very close within days of Salman.
Now it is learnt that Salman's producers are hopping mad at having to postpone their schedules. Some of them have been quite accomodating. Shirish Kunder, Farah Khan's husband has made Salman wear a turban and carries on Shooting.
The schedule of another film with Priyanka Chopra has been postponed till Salman's hair reappears.
